Physical development

PE / SPORT CLASSES

Active kids. New skills. More confidence.

PE classes help children develop the fundamental movement and sporting skills they need to feel confident and capable being active. Through fun, engaging games and activities, children practise running, jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, balance and coordination. Along the way, they build teamwork, communication, resilience, sportsmanship and confidence.

Sport classes give children the opportunity to put these skills into practice in a team environment. Children stay with the same team throughout the term and take part in a different sport or activity each week, building connection, teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive attitude towards participation.

A thriving Wednesday community

Our Wednesday PE and Sport programs have become a much-loved part of the homeschool community, with more than 140 children attending across the day. Many families stay for several hours, giving children extra time to play, connect and build friendships — while parents enjoy the opportunity to connect and socialise too.

During each child's scheduled class, our coaches are responsible for their supervision. Outside class times, including when children are playing and socialising, parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their own children.

Our community has also agreed that the venue is a device-free zone, helping to reduce distractions and giving children more opportunities to be present, play and socialise with one another.

Life skills & connection

CONNECTED KIDS

Practical life skills for confident, capable kids.

Connected Kids is a highly engaging drop-off program designed to help children build genuine connections, grow in confidence and develop practical life skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Running since July 2023, Connected Kids has become a program children genuinely love being part of. Each session is filled with hands-on activities, team challenges, games, discussions and real-life learning experiences that encourage kids to think, communicate, create, problem-solve and work together.

Through learning by doing, children develop important skills including communication, teamwork, resilience, creativity, confidence, independence, problem-solving and healthy habits — all while having fun and building meaningful friendships.

Connected Kids is about more than learning new skills. It’s about giving children a place where they can connect, belong, be themselves and thrive.

CO-FOUNDER · PROGRAM FACILITATOR

Rowan Connell

Rowan is a fully qualified Health and Physical Education teacher who spent 13 years teaching in secondary schools before moving into the homeschool community.

Through his experience working with young people, Rowan saw the value of creating more opportunities for practical learning, connection, confidence and skills for life. This led to the creation of Connected Kids.

Sport has been a lifelong passion for Rowan. He began working with children as a teenager through basketball coaching — something he continues to do today — and has also been involved in umpiring both football and basketball.

Since 2021, Rowan has been running programs for the homeschool community, including PE, sport, soccer, basketball and Connected Kids.

What parents say

Kind words from our community

Thank you Rowan and Jen — the way you weave connection, care, and intentional learning into the boys’ Mondays is something truly special. They come home glowing, and carrying so much joy from their lessons. We deeply appreciate the time, heart, and guidance you share with them as they grow.

— Amanda

I find tears trickle down my face. I so love this program. My heart swells, yet is slightly saddened, as I know these life skills should be for all children. Our precious children will grow to be whoever they wish to be with courage, honour & love in their hearts. I’m sure they will always remember these days xxx. What an impact you are having on their lives. Many blessings & much gratitude to you both.

— Donna

What a beautiful couple Rowan and Jen are—so welcoming, encouraging and positive! With young daughters who have a great passion and appreciation for sport and recreation, we immediately felt we had struck gold when we discovered Rowan’s PE program. It was the first co-op my daughters joined when they began homeschooling, and I am immensely grateful for it.

Rowan’s professional expertise and natural talent in Physical Education are evident in the wonderful program he has built. I have daughters who participate across all age-group sessions, and every one of them has been impressed from day one.

This program has created an incredibly lively atmosphere for everyone—not only the children. A genuine community has grown, and lifelong friendships have been formed over the years. Parents look forward to Wednesdays too!

Rowan’s PE program is fantastic for families who want their children to enjoy fun team-building activities and games in an environment that promotes leadership, connection and long-term wellbeing.

I cannot thank Rowan and Jen enough for offering such a terrific program to our homeschool community. My children absolutely love it, and so do I. We are truly blessed!

— Judy

What an absolute godsend at such a crucial time in our homeschool community’s journey. You’ll never know how much your leap of faith to leave the system has blessed us. You’re a gem, Ro! We cherish you and appreciate everything you do for our community. It’s SO much more than just a class for us — it’s our tribe, brought together by YOU!
